As a real time search platform is quite interesting. It is easy to display with the search results in for example your catalog or bibliography a banner of recent tweets on terms of the query performed. A bit like twistori http://twistori.com/#i_think seems to be doing with the phrases I think, I feel, I love, I hate, I believe and I wish.

Another way ti use it is to add an RSS feed on the topic of this blogpost: http://search.twitter.com/search.atom?q=twitter+libraries+library in this comment :)

I am not so sure about organizational twittering by libraries and others. I am afraid this will cause another spam wave. I love the social and personal side of it. Don't think I like tweets of 'anonymous' bodies. But hey, maybe I am wrong. Hard to say where this is going.

You overlooked the issue of twitter as a real time search platform. If the importance of Twitter as such a platforms grows. It will be important to be visible on this platform as an oragnisation with at least headlines from your news-items.
